The fact the fights often last 1-3 minutes is a big blow in hopes of becoming the heir apparent to boxing.

There is a big difference betwen Pride and UFC if the fighters are skilled grappling artists. Jackson is skilled in BJJ, but he is a knock out puncher with devastating Muay Thai skillz. Lidell is mostly just a boxer with good ground defense.

A guy like Coutere or Gonzaga would not fare as well in Pride without the chain link fence to use for mounting leverage.

You will never see a tap out with Jackson and Lidell fighting, regardless of the venue.

I don't blame Charlie for all of the Phillies' woes, but I do for the horrible handling of Brett Myers.

No argument here in regards to also placing blame on Gillick, however.

If possible, Jackson may have dominated Lidell even more in that pride fight. People say there's a big difference b/w pride and UFC, but it doesn't look that way to me. You know ESPN is jumping on - it's inevitable unfortunately.

I can't really put much blame on Cholly for Philly's woes.

Stand Pat left that bullpen for dead.

I think Chuck has a hard time with Rampage for multiple reasons, as he rarely gets cornered by other strikers. Ya, I saw the pride fight too, but the switch to the UFC isn't too drastic for either fighter. If anything, Lidell is even more disadvantaged versus Jackson in the Octagon because his Brazilian Jujitsu is not on par with Jackson's either.

On a side note, I hope ESPN does not start broadcasting UFC events. Ultimately, money talks and will probably buy the rights eventually.

Ya, obviously Rampage is fighting Dan Henderson first, but I assume the two will eventually get back into the ring. Lidell is definitely hollywood lately - entourage, punk'd, interview after interview, ESPN Mag, etc. I watched the first time he lost to him, but that was in PRIDE, which is a little different. Maybe Rampage just owns him.

"I can’t believe Chuck Lidell got beat like a redheaded stepchild Saturday night. Coming from someone who went to college in San Luis Obispo, The Iceman is often viewed as a demigod. Can’t wait for the rematch."

Rampage 2, Iceman 0

Jackson-Lidell chapter 3 won't happen for a few fights, as the promoters and both camps would be wise to save their third fight for another time.

I'm glad Lidell lost. Between his cameo on Entourage and his unorthodox style that often leaves him exposed, I was waiting for this outcome.
