Dalton’s Wide Receiver Rankings
1. Torry Holt
2. Steve Smith
3. Chad Johnson
4. Anquan Boldin
5. Larry Fitzgerald
6. Terrell Owens
7. Randy Moss
Owens drops because of hamstring issues and his disproportionate media coverage really annoys me. Matt Leinart’s impressive preseason makes the Arizona wideouts even better bets this year.
8. Marvin Harrison
9. Reggie Wayne
10. Chris Chambers
11. Roy Williams
12. Plaxico Burress
Harrison is going way too early for my taste. I think Wayne has a 50/50 shot of being more productive, so grabbing him a round cheaper is the way to go. If Williams falls to you in the fourth, grab him and don’t look back.
13. Santana Moss
14. Andre Johnson
15. Hines Ward
16. Donald Driver
17. Javon Walker
18. TJ Houshmandzadeh
19. Lee Evans
Reports of David Carr continuing to struggle are discouraging, especially since I somehow drafted Andre Johnson on every single one of my six teams, but I still have faith. It’s wavering some though. I’m liking Lee Evans’ prospects more and more. He’s someone who could slip too.
20. Darrell Jackson
21. Deion Branch
22. Joey Galloway
23. Joe Horn
24. Derrick Mason
25. Nate Burleson
26. Michael Clayton
27. Laveranues Coles
I’m officially worried about both D-Jax and Branch’s situations. If D-Jax is indeed hindered, watch out for Burleson, who has reportedly looked explosive throughout camp.
28. Antonio Bryant
29. Reggie Brown
30. Drew Bennett
31. Eric Moulds
32. Matt Jones
33. Muhsin Muhammad
34. Rod Smith
35. Eddie Kennison
36. Terry Glenn
37. David Givens
38. Kevin Curtis
39. Roddy White
40. Marty Booker
While I don’t love the Donte Stallworth acquisition, it does slightly decrease Brown’s value. Antonio Bryant is starting to really intrigue. Remember, this is a team that will be frequently playing from behind and forced to pass more often than not; Bryant appears to be the team’s only viable option. Curtis and Booker are two of my favorite late round sleepers.
Robby’s Wide Receiver Rankings
Folks, I just moved and have no Internet and, as much as I like living dangerously and camping outside this random apartment stealing wireless, every man has his limits. Therefore my coverage of wide receiver and tight end rankings is going to be pretty basic.
1. Steve Smith
2. Torry Holt
The more I think about it, the more I like these two over all other wideouts.
3. Chad Johnson
4. Terrell Owens
5. Larry Fitzgerald
6. Anquan Boldin
I’ve warmed up to the Cardinals’ wideouts. TO still really scares me at No. 4.
7. Randy Moss
8. Marvin Harrison
9. Chris Chambers
10. Reggie Wayne
I’d let someone else risk Moss (maybe a desperate homer like Jeff) and take the last guy from this group.
11. Roy Williams
12. Plaxico Burress
13. Hines Ward
14. Santana Moss
15. Donald Driver
16. Andre Johnson
Driver and Johnson round out this group with great playoff schedules.
17. Darrell Jackson
18. TJ Houshmandzadeh
19. Derrick Mason
20. Deion Branch
21. Joey Galloway
22. Javon Walker
I am now sufficiently scared of D-Jax.
23. Lee Evans
24. Joe Horn
25. Nate Burleson
26. Reggie Brown
27. Antonio Bryant
28. Laveranues Coles
29. Matt Jones
30. Michael Clayton
These guys are all solid flex receivers.
Jeff’s Wide Receiver Rankings
Tier One
1. Steve Smith
2. Chad Johnson
3. Randy Moss
4. Torry Holt
5. Larry Fitzgerald
6. Anquan Boldin
7. Terrell Owens
Chad Johnson gets a huge boost from Carson Palmer’s healthy return. Meanwhile, TO is scaring off even his biggest advocates with his hammy troubles. Moss proved last week that he still has speed to burn, showing no lingering effects from his 2005 injuries. We all know what a healthy Moss is capable of.
Tier Two
8. Marvin Harrison
9. Reggie Wayne
10. Chris Chambers
11. Roy Williams
Harrison and Wayne will have similar production, but you can probably nab Wayne a round later.
Tier Three
12. Plaxico Burress
13. Santana Moss
14. Hines Ward
15. Donald Driver
16. Lee Evans
17. TJ Houshmandzadeh
18. Andre Johnson
19. Derrick Mason
20. Javon Walker
I don’t think Santana Moss can match his 2005 totals, but he is still a great value option in the 5th round in 12 team leagues. Donald Driver is a safe player to draft, benefiting from Favre’s tunnel vision.
Tier Four
21. Darrell Jackson
22. Joey Galloway
23. Reggie Brown
24. Laveranues Coles
25. Deion Branch
D-Jax’s knee injury scares me, but I wouldn’t pass him up in the 7th round if I needed a WR.
Tier Five
26. Donte Stallworth
27. Matt Jones
28. Nate Burleson
29. MARK Clayton
30. Muhsin Muhammed
31. Joe Horn
32. Antonio Bryant
33. Terry Glenn
34. Drew Bennett
35. Ernest Wilford
36. Roddy White
37. Jerry Porter
38. David Givens
39. MICHAEL Clayton
40. Doug Gabriel
Donte Stallworth will adapt quickly to Philly’s version of the West Coast Offense. Don’t buy into the “TO has never had a productive second receiver” logic. Bledsoe is an intelligent QB who will rely on his open reads. At this point, it is Owens that is a question mark. Terry Glenn has looked good this preseason and will be more than serviceable.
