So I take it you kind of like the Colts? This despite their simply awful playoff record in years where they clinched early and rest guys? The only year they won the SB was the one where they had to fight their way in…. it just seems impossible for me to accept that any world-class player in any sport (I mean sport, not a “game”, like golf) can take upwards of a month off and then leap back into elite competition at the same level. Even a 5-10% performance degradation can be catastrophic in this game. At least their players got a couple of series in at the tail end this year, and I think they lucked out big time in that the AFC doesn’t seem very top-heavy at all this year, but I still don’t have a ton of faith in this club. That said, given that the rest of the AFC field is so weak, I do understand the logic of loading on Colts players from a fantasy perspective.

The NFL postseason has become a crap shoot recently, but this year, it’s especially one. I ranked Colts high b/c I felt like they are by far the team most likely to play two games (likely facing Cincy or NYJ their first game, or Balt), and really, in this type of format, that’s huge b/c no other team is really guaranteed that. Notice I put Rivers as QB2 – meaning I wouldn’t be shocked if they won the Super Bowl.

Bottom line, I expect Indy or SD to win the AFC, but I could easily see any team except Zona (which the same could have been said about them last year) winning the NFC – that conference is very up in the air. I’m remaining agnostic there.

The key would be to pick the right NFC team that has upside and is playing this week, that way you could possibly get four games out them, whereas Indy’s ceiling is three games.

And I agree with you that the Colts shouldn’t have rested their players so much, and it’s also worrisome how many games they had to come from behind to win this season. But this is also a team that won what? 23 straight regular season games when trying? I mean, at this point they might be getting a bit overlooked (I don’t even hear that many people picking them to win it all). They are pretty damn good.
